This is a hybrid role being onsite in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
As an Associate Technical Product Manager, you will support the ownership of a key operational domain within the Protolabs Network, contributing to the evolution of our software development that support our finance and procurement capabilities.
In this role, you will work closely with senior product managers, engineering, and business stakeholders to execute against the product strategy and roadmap for your domain. You will support and enhance Microsoft AX (ERP) financial workflows, ensure visibility into system performance and financial processes, and drive improvements that elevate the experience for finance partners and internal users.

In this role, you will grow your product skills through hands-on experience, mentorship, and direct impact on how physical products are made globally.
What you'll do:
- Support the execution of the product roadmap for your domain, partnering with product leadership and stakeholders to prioritize work based on data and business needs
- Develop a strong understanding of partner segments, including capabilities, performance, and preferences, as well as customer needs such as lead time, quality, and cost across the order lifecycle
- Assist in discovery and delivery activities, contributing to problem validation, user research, experiments, and prototyping
- Help create clear product requirement documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to deliver features on a predictable cadence while helping manage scope, risks, and dependencies
- Monitor and analyze post-launch metrics such as adoption, allocation quality, and operational performance, and surface insights and improvement opportunities
- Support partner lifecycle initiatives, including onboarding, performance tracking, and engagement efforts
- Contribute to balancing trade-offs across speed, quality, cost, and utilization within the network
- Work with engineering to maintain product quality, reliability, and scalability while delivering customer value
- Advocate for a sustainable team pace and continuous improvement in processes and platform quality
What it takes:
- 0–3 years of experience in product management, engineering, operations, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to product development, projects, or technical initiatives (through professional experience, internships, or academic work)
- Experience working with software engineering teams or exposure to Agile development practices
- Product and analytical skills Comfortable working with funnels, experiments, and cost/benefit analysis to support decision-making
- Ability to define clear success metrics and measure product performance against business outcomes and KPIs User-centric mindset with the ability to balance customer, business, and operational considerations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Curiosity and willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to create clarity in complex domains and build alignment without direct authority Pragmatic, decisive, and impact-oriented, with a focus on outcomes over outputs
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft AX, Dynamics 365, or similar ERP ecosystems
- Experience with EDI integrations, including transaction mapping, error handling, and coordination across ERP and external partner systems
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in digital manufacturing, B2B marketplaces, supply chain, or e-commerce domains
- Experience with analytics and discovery tools (e.g., Looker, Domo, Tableau, SQL, Miro) Exposure to complex operational environments where technology, people, and processes must work together

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
