Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Legal Associate:
- Collaborate with our client's team to draft and review contract provisions for new retail annuity products, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop and manage project timelines for state product submissions, setting clear expectations for approval processes.
- Analyze legal standards related to state insurance laws and the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission to support new product development.
- Engage with state regulators to negotiate and respond to objections, streamlining the submission process for quicker approvals.
- Partner with internal marketing teams to ensure consumer advertising aligns with contract requirements and maintain records of regulated forms.
Required Skills for Legal Associate:
- Over seven years of experience in the annuity and/or life insurance industry, with at least three years in a legal, compliance, or product development role.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, sales practices, and regulatory changes.
- Proficiency in communication, both verbal and written, with excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with insurance administration and experience with SERFF.
- Competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional, and other relevant software.
